This role is ideal for professionals with a strong statistical, mathematical, or financial engineering background, seeking to contribute to risk model validation for BFS clients in North America.
Key Responsibilities
Perform independent model validation within the 2nd line of defense using SR 11-7 or similar regulatory guidelines.
Conduct conceptual assessment of models’ methodology, assumptions, limitations, and outcomes.
Develop benchmark/challenger models as needed.
Assess model monitoring, implementation processes, and calibration techniques.
Prepare comprehensive model validation reports with findings and recommendations.
Collaborate with internal and client teams to ensure model integrity and compliance.

Education – Postgraduate
Degree/diploma in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, or Physics with courses in Financial Engineering, FRM, or CQF Level 1
Education – Undergraduate

Experience
Experience in market risk model validation and knowledge of regulatory guidelines (SR 11-7, FRTB, Stress Testing, Basel III IMA, CAR: Chapter 9)
Technical Exposure
Exposure to treasury systems (Murex, Calypso) or market data providers (Bloomberg, Reuters)
Modeling & Analytics
Knowledge of VaR, Expected Shortfall, Counterparty Credit Risk modeling, and product valuation in Fixed Income or Derivatives
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Python/R, Excel, and statistical analysis
Soft Skills
Good communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
Work Ethic
Self-driven, proactive, and able to work under minimal supervision
